When should kids have a dental exam?
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a child should have their first dental exam after their very first tooth comes in. During this preliminary exam, Dr. Gary can make sure your child’s gums and teeth are healthy and get ahead of any potential issues.
As children grow, it’s recommended that they visit the dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and check-up. Of course, if children are experiencing any pain or issues with their teeth, they should visit a dentist as soon as possible.
How to prepare your child for their dental exam
Visiting the dentist can be scary for some children, but at KIND SMILES, we make the trip a positive experience. We are all about empowering children to take control of their oral health and giving them a relaxed and friendly visit.
If your child has any concerns, please encourage them to share them - and when talking about the exam with your child, make sure to use positive words that make the visit seem fun. Then, we’ll do our best to ensure it IS fun!
